If you want to know more, all you have to do is read on…
1. Add a Separate Page For Every Service Your Business Delivers/Provides
Just think about it, Google is trying to find the most relevant search result and the best information for the user on the internet for a specific search terms.
Therefore writing a detailed service page for each of your services is more specific to that service, not confusing Google and likely to give a user the best possible answer and improve your website’s ranking.
Many businesses miss a great opportunity to increase their ranking and attract more new traffic by just listing the services they offer on a low word count generic ‘services’ page.
Instead, add a page for each and every service that you provide and write a detailed article (600+ words) explaining:
- The benefits of your service to the buyer;
- Why they should purchase the service from you, ahead of your competition;
- Any guarantees that you may have;
- Common questions (and detailed answers) that customers ask you about your services; and
- The step by step process of exactly what happens when your customer decides to purchase your service.
2. Make Sure Every Page Contains a Minimum of 500 words
First page ranking studies have shown a strong correlation between web page word count and search engine rankings.
Ensure that every page on your website has a minimum of 500 words, of well written content (with the exception of pages where you wouldn’t expect to find large slabs of content, like the “Contact” page).
Where it makes sense, add relevant images and embed videos to improve the user experience.
3. Update your Old Blog Posts
You’re probably sensing a focus on your site content, but this is one of the most important factors for Google rankings, and Google also loves fresh content.
A website that has a stack of old content with nothing new published, not only looks bad to Google, but makes a poor impression on actual visitors to your website…”is this company still in business?”.
Go through your old blog articles, update them with content relevant to 2018 or perhaps expand them with a couple of extra paragraphs explaining some of your old talking points in more detail.
4. Add Descriptions and Services to Your Google My Business Page
Your Google My Business (GMB) page is one of the most important digital properties that your business needs to have setup, as this not only gives you a strong backlink from Google, it also helps generate your Google Map listing in the Map search results.
Just recently, there have been changes to GMB which allow you to add details to the following sections:
- Business description (700 characters);
- Service description ( characters); and
- Posts.
Go through and complete these new GMB sections, explaining in as much details as possible, using as many keywords relevant to your business. Ensure that your descriptions are unique content and not copy & pasted from your website.
5. Ask Your Customers For Online Reviews
Nowadays, people read your reviews before even deciding to click onto your company’s website!
Reviews are also a factoring that Google uses to decide search engine rankings.
When a customer is satisfied with the work that you do for them, ask them to complete a 5-star review on your Google My Business page. In order to complete the review, your customers will need a Gmail account.
To make this process simpler for our own customers, we’ve placed a “review us” item in the menu on our website which provides a link to our GMB review section automatically.
